What's On Your Desk?

Dawn Marie looks pretty pleased with the desk caddy she made at a recent downline group meeting.

The pattern and measurements for this easy-to-make project will be included in my July newsletter next week, so if you'd like the instructions make sure you're signed up for my email newsletter. (There's a signup box on the upper left of this page.)

The pattern comes from my pal, Joy Jones, who is a lover-of-all-things-3D. It uses one sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock, two sheets of designer paper, eight eyelets and some ribbon. This is a great little caddy to sit on your desk – fill it with photos ready to be scrapbooked, or scraps, or just about anything you like. Make it really special by attaching photos of loved ones (the human or the animal variety) to the outside panels. Wouldn't it be fun to add some Big Shot die cuts?

The Shape's The Thing

I get into such a rut with the usual rectangular card, only occasionally straying to a square. Clearly that's not true for my friend Kit Richie, who designed this charming card.

Flowery Frilly Fleurettes

The Fleurettes collection is on the Last Chance list and you can pick it up for a cool 50% off, while supplies last.

Time On A Tile

Oooh, we had fun creating tile coasters at our May 3D Stamp Club meeting in Duluth!

The tiles are unglazed marble tiles available at large hardware stores.

The great thing about using Stazon is that the tile does not require baking or sealing and so retains its ability to absorb moisture -- it continues to act as a "thirsty stone." You can also retain the absorption by stamping with SU craft ink and embossing with clear embossing powder.

We finished the back of the coasters by gluing on felt corners with Crystal Effects, and signing our artwork. The felt is cut from 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of regular craft felt (available at craft and office supply stores).

A package of coasters tied with ribbon makes a lovely housewarming gift.

Fabulous Flowers

In honor of our 36th wedding anniversary, this large bouquet (three feet high and nearly as wide across) graced the Worship Center at our church this morning.

The flowers were lovely and we wanted to share their beauty with others. So we took the bouquet and some vases to my eldest daughter's house this afternoon and made several bouquets for her to take to school tomorrow. Mikelle is a kindergarten teacher who appreciates the often unsung efforts of the school staff, so administrative and secretarial staff will be the recipients of these recycled posies.

Of course, we had to give the bouquets that Stampin' Up! flair.

We added some cards and ribbon and these babies are ready to go.

The simple cards were made using 3 x 3 Whisper White cards, the new Oval All stamp set and Scallop Oval punch from the Occasions mini catalog. A little stamping, punching and embellishing with a white gel pen later…voila!

This was a spur-of-the-moment project. I love having a variety of creative materials on hand to make what I need in the moment.

This was my swap for our monthly demonstrator meeting.
